One of the really interesting events, where we participated as a panelists, was held on Friday, 20.03. in Zagreb – organized by a business magazine Poslovni tjednik (Business Weekly). The main topic of the discussion was a future of the payment systems, or what will the future bring us in our everyday life dealing with the banks, payments, invoices etc. Our main interest and discussion was related to new forms of payments and payment systems, like microfinancing, ethical banks, mobile payment systems etc. and how those systems will change the way how banks operate, earn interest and manage capital.
We are strong belivers that there is a need for a change.
There is a need that we correct or improve somehow current financial system that was maybe good and adequate for the time beign, but it has to be restructured for the needs of the future citizen. All new payment systems experiment with some new form of business model. Microfinancing with the small loans to the specific groups of people with low interest rates but with high percentage of healthy loans. Mobile banking where, at one point of the process, telecommunication operators take over the role of the bank, and enable transfer of the money where banking infrastructure is not in place. Or ethical banking where people form collectives and together they decide where and how they will invest – even if there is no interest on the investment at all.
